Lost Souls in Nekomura is a small setting to be dropped into a larger campaign or run as a one-off.

For The Liminal Horror Twisted Classics Jam

Investigators find themselves trapped in an endless loop in a quiet neighborhood in Tokyo. Shops and restaurants are lit and open, but there are no people. Where did they go?

Lost Souls in Nekomura was originally written for the Liminal Horror Twisted Classics Jam 2024. This module is an interpretation of the works of Haruki Murakami, in particular The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, along with some influence from Junji Ito.

Escape from Nekomura or Lose Your Soul Trying

As Investigators search the quiet streets of Nekomura, shadowy figures dart through their peripheral vision. Horror looms just out of sight. Can they find their way out of the neighborhood in time?

Yes! Much better with the second page! I like how things lead up to the mirror, but not right away.

thanks for checking it out! sorry for the mix-up with the file.

No worries, it happens to everyone. I end up putting version numbers on my PDFs as I make corrections LOL

good tip, thinking I'll use that moving forward as well

This really needs some sense of how to defeat or appease the demon. All I can find is how to "satisfy" it and it amounts to a single character sacrificing themselves. There need to be examples of other options, even if accidental or on-purpose self-sacrifice is definitely something I feel should be on the table. All that said, I love the general premise.

It was intended that it can't be defeated, only appeased in some way - finding the hidden alley is the main way to do that. But your point is well taken, we kind of rushed to get this wrapped up. I intend to do an updated version that better defines the goal/end game here.

Just realized also that the second page of the pamphlet was missing from the download. I still think your critique is valid, but if you only had the front side of the document, this might provide a bit more explanation as to how to deal with the demon.

Yeah, that would make a big difference! 👍
